TERHADAP NOVEL-NOVEL HOMOSEKSUAL INDONESIA

(Kajian Resepsi Sastra terhadap Novel Lelaki Terindah Karya Andrei Aksana)

Abstrak

Beberapa novel Indonesia secara tidak langsung membantu kaum homoseksual keluar dari belenggu rasa malu dengan mengangkat tema homoseksual dalam novel itu. Salah satunya novel Lelaki Terindah karya Andrei Aksana yang secara keseluruhan isinya menceritakan kehidupan kaum homoseksual. Pengarang menghadirkan pencerminan realitas kehidupan kaum homoseksual di dua negara, yaitu Thailand dan Indonesia. Perbedaan cara pandangan masyarakat Thailand dan Indonesia berimbas pada hubungan pasangan homoseksual tersebut. Hal ini yang menjadi daya tarik kaum homoseksual untuk membaca novel ini. Sambutan secara positif maupun negatif dari pembaca yang umumnya adalah kaum homoseksual, dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil penginterpretasian terhadap cerita dalam novel tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan reseptif yang digabungkan dengan pendekatan sosiologi sastra. Responden penelitian ini adalah enam orang pria homoseksual yang berada di kota Semarang yang dipilih berdasarkan kriteria yang telah ditentukan. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara. Teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kaum homoseksual di kota Semarang memberikan tanggapan positif terhadap novel Lelaki Terindah karya Andrei Aksana, khususnya pada kehidupan kaum homoseksual dalam novel. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa resepsi yang ditimbulkan oleh pembaca yang berlatar belakang sama dengan cerita di dalam novel, umumnya akan bernilai positif. Artinya pembaca akan menerima fakta yang ada di dalam novel. Hasil penelitian resepsi ini diharapkan dapat menambah khazanah penelitian sastra dan menjadi referensi penelitian sastra berikutnya yang menggunakan teori resepsi.

Abstract

A number of recent novels in Indonesia have indirectly been supporting homosexuals in their attempts to free themselves from the shame of being homosexual. One of them is a novel entitled Lelaki Terindah by Andrei Aksana which narrates the life of homosexuals. In the novel, the author compares the life of homosexuals in Thailand and Indonesia. The different views of Thailand and Indonesian people influences the life of the homosexual couple in the story and thus attracts the homosexuals to read the novel. A number of comments of homosexual readers, positively as well as negatively, have been based on their interpretation towards the novel. This study uses reader response approach and social studies in its attempt to achieve the goal. The participants are six homosexuals in Semarang who have been selected based on the established criteria. The procedures of collecting data consists of interview whereas the technics of analyzing data is qualitative descriptive. The result of this study shows that the homosexuals in Semarang give positive appreciations upon the novel Lelaki Terindah by Andrei Aksana, especially the life of homosexual narrated in the story. This proves that the responses of the readers who have backgrounds similar to the one in the novel generally will be positive. In other words, the reader will accept the events in the novel as truth and natural. The result of this study is expected to enrich the literature research and become another reference for the next study which will attempt to apply the reader response approach.
